We got Pepper and Mambo just a day apart.  It seems that Jim and Nancy told us that they had two "perfect dogs", and we took Pepper home.  Pepper was perfect, and the next day, we picked up our second perfect dog, Mambo.  During their lives, they've moved with us as we rehabbed old houses, and neither of them ever failed to adapt perfectly to their new environment.  They were joined by Jocko, Truman, Frank, and many other short term strays in between, and were always hospitable hosts to the newcomers.  As they both failed, from age and illness, within only a few short months of each other, we took comfort that they would not be alone as they moved on from this home to the next.  While other dogs will come, and others will pass, we hope they know that we truly did our best to make them the happiest "perfect" dogs while they shared their time with us.

"Boots Bee has been a member of our family since my husband and I got married.  She was loving, gentle and sweet.   She had the softest fur and the kindest eyes.  We already miss her presence.  The way she may everyone smile...even people who weren't dog people.  Larry and I will always love her.  We'll tell the baby about her as he gets older and show him lots of photos.  And the three cats and other grey, well, they'll miss the other member of the Furry Five.  But we'll all know how lucky we were that she shared her life with us.  And we can only hope she's upside down on a couch in dog heaven eating Pupperonis and feeling pain-free.  We love you Boots."
